I planned on writing tonight. Then I fell asleep, because I'm old, and one of my new hobbies is being tired.
Fortunately, another one of my hobbies is not sleeping through the night. I woke up, my blanket situated all wrong, the temperature all off, and my skin itchy.
I was grumpy and uncomfortable, so I grabbed my laptop. I figured I'd try to write a little bit, give up, and go back to sleep out of depression or desperation.
Instead, I actually ended up writing, which was a nice twist.
And since I'm warmed up, I figured I should start a new issue of The Strangelands, since that's been on my to-do list since the beginning of the week.
Here we are, boys and girls--the news post for February. Fun fact: I revolted a bit at the end of last year and decided that I didn't need to start out each new issue with a news post, despite the fact that it was tradition. And then our server went down, and several years of our site were lost.
I didn't make the connection, so in December, I also started out with a rant instead of news. Don't ask me why, but I wasn't able to post the majority of that month, either.
So this month, we're starting out with a news post. I'm not generally a superstitious person, but come on.
What's in store for this month? I'm assuming quite a few posts about my impending fatherhood. Don't worry--I'm thinking more along the lines of mental and emotional breakdown, as opposed to helpful, daddy-blog stuff. So interesting, as opposed to helpful, is what I'm saying.
I don't know about you, but I've always enjoyed watching someone fall from the precarious pedestal of sanity. Not "enjoyed" like pleasant--I'm not a monster--but rather in a fascinated way. So I figured I could at least do that for our loyal readers, considering I'll be on a steady decline from now until I finally get a grip on how to be a parent (so, like, for the next 23 years?).
I also plan on bringing back the now-lost review segment "Kicking and Streaming," which was when I half-assedly reviewed movies that you could watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.
My original plan had been to find movies you may have overlooked, but I noticed that "Showgirls" is on Netflix now, so that might have be included in the lineup.
So, yeah, that's about it. I don't know if it will be what you'd call enlightening, but I hope it's enough to encourage you to come back and visit.
Thanks for stopping in, Strangelanders!
