Not Hate, Exactly by Ray Printer Friendly

Been a while,

Been a while,

I hate to fail,

But I feel that I must.

You know where I live,

You know where I lurk,

You know how I love,

You know how to hurt.

I know who you are,

I know how you are,

I know what you need…

And I don’t know you at all.

I step through the looking glass with you,

Sliced and raw and real,

While you’re whole and someone else,

And I beg you to accept.

Thread-thin lies and

Scalpel-sharp words,

Wounding deeper than the soul,

Not with malice, but with ignorance.

The lights go out:

I know you by scent,

The flavor of the air around you,

The noise you make;

Your proximity.

You know me by:

Turning

On

The Light.

God, Please

Don’t Let

This Be

Love.
