Insomnia by Carey Printer Friendly

A day goes on forever

24 hours from sunrise to sunset

Multiplied times 3 with slight respite between eternity

Running on empty

No recharge or fuel source in sight

Eyes rubbed raw

21 grit protective shields that burn with each blink

Calling up old hyper friends to stay awake

Potfuls of coffee, energy boosters and burning black knights bring up the rear

When did sleep become the enemy

Shuffle toward salvation

Down filled comforts lay in repose beckoning slyly from another room

Heed the call or shun them

In a dazed stupor

My mind shuts down and waits
